Welcome to the City of Hayden Lake Election web site.  My goal as Chief Election Official is to provide basic information to anyone who is interested in the City of Hayden Lake election process.

Candidates: Any qualified elector living within the city limits of Hayden Lake may become a candidate by submitting the declaration of candidacy and petition of candidacy, or by submitting their declaration as a write-in candidate.

Qualified Elector for City Elections: A qualified elector is anyone who has registered to vote and has resided within the city limits at least 30 days prior to election.

 

Voter Registration: Anyone who is 18 years of age, a resident within the City of Hayden Lake can register to vote.  You can register at City Hall, 9393 N. Strahorn Rd., or at the County Elections office at 451 Government Way, Coeur d'Alene, ID.  The City and County have joint registration, so when you register at either place you are registered to vote in any City, County, State, or Federal election. 

 

Absentee Voting: Any qualified elector may vote absentee. Absentee voting is available at the County Elections Office and absentee requests are also available at the County Elections Office.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN: That the general election to be held in and for the City of Hayden Lake, Idaho, will be held on Tuesday, November 7, 2023.  The election will be held for the purpose of electing two Councilmembers (seats 1 & 4) for a term of four years, and the Mayor for a term of four years.

 

Candidates for the city elected office are required to file a Declaration of Candidacy with the City Clerk specifying the office sought and affirming that the individual is a qualified city elector, meaning: at least 18 years of age, a U.S. citizen, the candidate’s primary residence must be within the city, the address of the candidate’s voter registration must match the residence address provided on the candidate’s declaration, and the candidate must have resided in the city for at least 30 days prior to submitting their declaration.  The Declaration of Candidacy must be accompanied by: (1) a nonrefundable filing fee of $40 or (2) a Petition of Candidacy signed by at least five qualified city electors with the signatures verified by the county clerk’s office.  The deadline for filing Declarations of Candidacy is Friday, September 8, 2023 at 5:00 p.m.  Declarations of Candidacy are available at City Hall in the office of the City Clerk at 9393 N. Strahorn Rd, Hayden Lake, ID 83835.
